I’ve been putting off writing the latest newsletter and frankly I probably would have blown past May as I have blown past April, etc, which would have been terrible book marketing but otherwise not particularly meaningful, and then I realized I was offering preorder incentives and you guys might want to know about that.
So, this one’s a RANDOM ACTION ITEMS missive. I might send out a supplementary missive with “things I’ve really been enjoying” later this month, and maybe something about “so how’s having a book coming out going?”
IZ ACTION ITEMS:
If you preorder SUBLIMATION from Dungeon Books in Jersey City (they offer shipping) by May 16, you will receive a SIGNED BOOK and a cool postcard of landscapes in Korea and NYC (that I took) and a SUBLIMATION poster! Both of these have been risograph printed by @imperfect.press on Instagram (aka my sister in law, lol) and look incredibly cool. If you’ve already preordered, fill out this form and shoot me a redacted picture of your receipt and I will send the cool stuff directly to you :D (Yu & Me books is also going to have the same preorder campaign up (so sayeth my emails) and you will be able to get the same thing from them, though it’s not up on their website yet). (Also, if you’re in the NYC area, these are both really cool bookstores! I would recc going 🙂 )

And look out for an announcement from TOR in the very near future about a SUBLIMATION book tour in a City Near You (Maybe). I’ll be doing some bopping around and talking about the book with some cool people and I’m very excited and only a little intimidated.
IZ BOOK:
How’s SUBLIMATION doing? Jesus, I don’t know. The month leading up to a debut novel has so far been filled with lots of googling about “how many preorders is good” despite my not knowing how many preorders I’ve received or also how many preorders is good. So, the trend of everyone else being more confident about SUBLIMATION than I am has continued.
That being said, SUBLIMATION has received a number of very nice reviews from Publisher’s Weekly (starred!), Booklist (starred!) and Library Journal (not starred, boo!!!!) so, you know, that’s cool. People Seem To Like It. It was on a Goodreads list this morning for the most anticipated books of the summer. Is that good. It’s probably good. It’s being anticipated.
ALSO I have physical books in my house now, and I’ve listened to the audiobook (sneak peek here today on Polygon!), so let me be the first to tell you that you can’t go wrong with either. The audiobook has very high production value AND two voices, even; and the physical book is really beautiful. The ebook is also totally fine it just only has my words and no other fun extras (music, two guys talking, metallic finish, etc).

IZ STORIES:
Expect two new short stories from me this month, surprise! Both of these are kind of classic IJK stories but that’s a categorization that only makes sense in my brain because I am me.
THE PERPETUAL POST will be in Reactor on May 20th, and it is about delivering objects and near FTL travel and some other stuff like “omnipotent AI” and “the expansion of civilization across space.”
NOMENCLATURE will be in Strange Pilgrims on May 28th and it is about fighting in a war that you never signed up for. Also about Cain and Abel.
